Every Story Starts with a Name
Naming isn’t just picking something that sounds nice. It’s the word they’ll say for the rest of their life. It’s how they’ll go from strangers to lovers, best friends, coworkers, and classmates. It’s how they’ll be remembered, spoken of, googled, and maybe even tattooed. It’s more than a name. It’s the beginning of every story. And it deserves to feel right.

FAQs
Naymt is the smart, modern way to find the perfect name. Discover thousands of options, use advanced filters, and get name suggestions that match your style. Build lists, rearrange names inside, and invite your partner or loved ones to rank, react, and comment. It's personal, playful, and collaborative. Because naming should feel fun.
We pull from a wide range of trusted sources, including U.S. birth name data dating back to 1880. Our database includes modern names, international picks, and rare finds. We update our selection daily with new name additions and trends.
We cross-reference multiple trusted sources and we understand that meanings can vary by region and language. So, if a name has several interpretations, we’ll show them all so you can choose the one that resonates most.
Daily. We track trends, listen to requests, and research deeply so you always have fresh names to discover. Whether it’s rising fast or making a comeback, you'll find it in Naymt.
Baby names are our main focus, but Naymt works for anything that needs a name. Whether you're naming a baby, a pet, a character, or (soon) a business. The app helps you explore, narrow down, and decide on a name with confidence.
Filters help you narrow things down fast. Sort by vibe, origin, popularity, gender, syllable count, and so many more. Looking for a vintage French girl name under five letters? In Nyamt, you can get that specific.
Of course! You can search by first letter, ending letter, number of syllables, and more. These filters are perfect when you already have a sound in mind, or need a name that fits with a sibling, middle name, or last name.
Filters help you narrow down what’s already in the app. The Naym Genie does more. It’s personal. You can tell it sibling names, names you love but can’t use, your style, your story. It’ll show you names we have that fit, or create new ones in real time.
Try telling it your cousin stole Beckett and you want something similar, and watch the magic happen.
In Naymt, lists let you save names you love, rearrange them, invite others, and make decisions together. You can create as many lists as you want, whether you’re narrowing things down or starting from scratch.
It’s easy. Inside a list, swipe right to move a name up or swipe left to move it down. You can also tap a name to see its details, find out who moved it and when, and view any comments added. Every list becomes a living record of where your favorite names stand.
Yes. Every list can be shared using an invite link from the list owner. You’ll see their changes in real time, so everyone stays on the same page.
Anyone with the app. Once they download Naymt, they can tap your invite link to join the list. Whether it’s your partner, sibling, best friend, or mom, they’ll be able to add names, move things around, and leave comments.
In Naymt, collaborators can fully participate in any list they’re added to. They can add or rearrange names, leave notes, react to picks, and help shape the final order. Everything they do shows up in the activity feed, so nothing gets lost or second-guessed.
Yes. In Naymt, there’s no voting button, just swiping. Everyone can move names up or down based on what they love or don’t. It’s totally collaborative and a lot of fun. You can also leave notes to explain your moves or settle the re-arrange debate.
Absolutely. Create separate lists for different styles, stages, or people. Our favorite way to use multiple lists is to keep one with input from friends and family, and another private one just for you and your partner. It helps keep the naming energy contained and the real decisions focused while still having fun.
A veto means “this one’s a definite no from me.” It drops the name to the bottom of the list, so it’s out of the running. You’ll still be able to see vetoed names, just in case someone has a change of heart later.
Yes. Just swipe right to move the name back into consideration. Nothing’s gone forever in Naymt, sometimes a name grows on you.
Yes. Tap a name in a list to open it and leave a note. Comments are shared and visible to all collaborators on that list, so everyone stays in the loop.
Open any name in a list to view its activity. You’ll see who moved it up or down, who made it a top pick, and who vetoed it (and when). You can also tap a collaborator’s profile to see their full activity across the lists you share.
Yes. Turn on notifications to get updates when names are added, rankings change, vetoes happen, or new collaborators join. You can control which lists send you alerts in Profile Settings.
Naymr is our visual tool that guesses names based on photos. Snap a pic of anything and see what Naymr thinks it would be named. It’s powered by real-time style cues (and a little magic).
To start using Naymt, just upload a photo and add your name. We don’t use emails, phone numbers, or passwords. You’re in the app within seconds.
Go to Profile > Settings > Contact Us. We’d love to hear from you! Whether it's feedback, a bug, or a name you think we should add.
Naymt was built by Lani Lynchey, a founder with a deep love for names and the stories they hold. She was adopted under one name, changed it as an adult, and believes she has one of the rarest baby names in the app (no one’s added it to their list yet!!). Her poodle, is named after a word most people don’t recognize, but that’s kind of the point. Names matter. And so does who gives them.
